Job Description:
The Director, Medical Affairs, Neuroscience, will oversee various activities within the Medical Affairs, Neuroscience therapeutic areas, in collaboration with the Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs, Neuroscience. This role is responsible for contributing to the development and execution of medical strategies and the overall US Medical Affairs plan for Migraine. Key responsibilities include leading advisory boards, reviewing and approving promotional and medical materials, providing medical information responses, managing scientific communications (including poster presentations and publications in conjunction with the Publication team), designing and medically monitoring US-based clinical studies, and approving educational grants.
The Director will work closely with the External Scientific Collaboration (ESC) Director and Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team to develop and manage scientific engagements with national/regional thought leaders (TLs). This includes collaborating with TLs on externally sponsored study requests, providing internal and relevant external training, and preparing/supervising responses to medical information requests to ensure customers are well-informed about Ipsen's Neuroscience products and therapeutic areas. Key internal partners for this role include the Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations groups running Neuroscience studies, the Neuroscience commercial team, and global Neuroscience franchise medical personnel.
Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies
Serve on medical and/or disease area and asset cross-functional committees, as appropriate.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Ipsen to provide medical/scientific expertise and marketplace feedback.
Contribute to and lead, when appropriate, content development and presentation for external medical education programs.
Contribute to and lead, when appropriate, advisory board planning and execution.
Ensure appropriate scientific, disease and Ipsen product training for the MSL team and other internal partners.
Review and approval of promotional and medical material in PRC and MRC, respectively.
Offer medical input and manage budgets for clinical grants and medical education support activities (through Grants manager).
Collaboratively develop and supervise the execution of the Neuroscience TL identification and verification process.
Through the Medical Affairs Information Dept and MSL team, create & disseminate medically sound information to support the safe & effective use of Dysport (adhering to Regulatory and Ipsen guidelines).
Lead the development of proactive and reactive field materials as needed (e.g., FAQs, medical reactive response, FAQ responses, advisory board content) with the input from field teams.
Contribute to the scientific publication plan in US and design and support clinical studies in conjunction with Medical Affairs Operations group.
Attend relevant congresses to conduct scientific exchange and congress coverage.
Support the development and budget oversight of medical activities for migraine.
Manage Travel and Expense budget in keeping with Ipsen guidelines.
Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge & Experience (essential):
7+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, primarily within Medical Affairs.
Proven experience in Neuroscience is required.
Migraine therapeutic experience is required.
Demonstrated experience in presenting data and publishing scientific information.
Solid understanding of clinical trial design and biostatistical principles.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 60%, including HCP/customer meetings, scientific/medical conferences, and onsite meetings in Cambridge, MA.
Knowledge & Experience (preferred):
Clinical trials/research experience is a plus.
Background in strategic roles and product launch management preferred.
Botulinum toxin experience preferred
Education / Certifications (essential):
PhD, MD or PharmD
Language(s) (essential):
Fluent in English.
The annual base salary range for this position is $177,000 - $259,000.
