Description

Verily is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader for our Product Analytics & Data Engineering group. You will lead a talented team of Analysts and Data Engineers, act as a strategic partner to leaders across the organization, and bridge the gap between complex data infrastructure and actionable product insights. To drive future innovation in healthcare, you will drive alignment with business objectives, while staying attuned with a rapidly changing industry that is powered by AI technologies. The ideal candidate is an experienced manager who not only excels at product analytics, but also possesses a strong, practical understanding of data engineering principles.

Responsibilities

Product Analytics & Strategy:

  • Use data-powered insights and compelling data narratives to inform product strategy, feature prioritization, and roadmap development in close partnership with Verily’s product teams (Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers). 

  • Own the full product analytics lifecycle, from defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and instrumentation requirements to deep-dive analysis, A/B testing, and user behavior modeling.

Data Engineering & Infrastructure:

  • Lead the Data Engineering team to design, build, and maintain a scalable and reliable data infrastructure for analytics, while championing data quality and governance, and establishing processes to maintain the integrity of our core datasets.

Team Leadership & Mentorship:

  • Forecast resource needs and assign tasks, provide guidance, and foster career growth opportunities. 

  • Hire and train top talent and extend subject matter expertise for targeted commercial opportunities.

Qualifications 

Minimum Qualifications

  • A degree in computer or data science, engineering, and or related life science field with 8+ years of experience in data analytics, product analytics, or a related field, and 3+ years in a people management or team lead role.

  • Direct experience in cultivating and directing highly technical employees, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.

  • Extensive experience with BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI) and product analytics platforms.

  • Working knowledge of data engineering concepts, including data warehousing (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift), data modeling principles, and ETL/ELT pipelines.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with a proven ability to influence and build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Marketing, Finance, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in computer or data science, engineering, and or related life science field with 10+ years of experience in data analytics, product analytics, or a related field, and 5+ years in a people management role.

  • Experience working in healthcare, health tech, care delivery, or research.

  • Experience working with successful, large-scale mobile and web applications, and understanding of consumer analytics.

  • Experience working with healthcare data modalities (e.g., EMR/EHR, claims, genomics, clinical trial data) and an understanding of related privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA).

  • Experience with modern data stack tools like dbt, Airflow, or Fivetran.

This role is eligible for Verily-sponsored immigration support.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $162,000 - $277,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
