Job Description:

  • The Sr. Director, Payer Account Management, is a strategic leader within Ipsen’s U.S. Value & Access organization, accountable for ensuring optimal patient access across payer channels including commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and PBMs. This individual is responsible for leading a team of experienced payer account professionals and driving the development and execution of innovative access strategies aligned with brand objectives.

    As a key member of the Senior V&A Leadership Team (SLT), the Sr. Director contributes to the evolution of team goals and capabilities, while fostering a high-performance culture centered on strategic impact, patient focus, and collaborative leadership.

  • Serve as a core member of the Value & Access senior leadership team, providing input on team objectives, cross-functional strategies, and long-range planning.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the Payer Account Management team to achieve business objectives while fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and patient impact.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive payer strategy to secure optimal access, coverage, and reimbursement for Ipsen’s product portfolio
  • Build and maintain deep, trusted relationships with key payer decision-makers, including national and regional health plans, PBMs and government agencies.
  • Lead negotiations with payers, ensuring competitive and sustainable formulary positioning, access, and reimbursement that align with Ipsen’s goals
  • Establish and reinforce a team culture focused on actions that deliver measurable results for Ispen’s product portfolio.
  • Ensure adherence to Ipsen corporate policies, legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Pricing to secure Pricing Committee approvals for contracts, rebates, and administrative fees in alignment with internal guardrails.
  • Partner with HEOR, Market Access Marketing, Brand, Legal, Compliance, and others to develop impactful, compliant payer-facing materials such as value proposition decks, PIE decks, and pull-through resources.
  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards to track account execution, coverage trends, and key team metrics.
  • Contribute to brand planning and strategy development to ensure seamless alignment between Value & Access and broader commercial objectives.
  • Collaborate with other Value & Access leaders to deliver enterprise goals and build a unified approach to access and reimbursement.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, legislative changes, and competitive intelligence, proactively adapting payer strategies as needed.
  • Share competitive intelligence and market insights with key stakeholders to inform strategy and support agile decision-making.

Technical Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of U.S. payer landscape including commercial plans, PBMs, Medicare, Medicaid, and evolving policy trends.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating payer and PBM agreements, including rebates and fee structures.
  • Track record of leading cross-functional collaboration to develop and deliver impactful payer strategies and materials.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to evaluate contract performance.
  • Proven leadership skills including leading and developing teams, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Excellent executive presence, communication, and influencing skills.

Knowledge & Experience (Preferred):

  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing and developing high-performing account management teams.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. payer landscape including commercial plans, PBMs, Medicare, Medicaid, and evolving policy trends.
  • Proven ability to lead in cross-functional environments and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success operating in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Strong strategic, proactive, and goal-oriented mindset with a high level of enthusiasm.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Recognized as a team player who fosters collaboration across functions and levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent ~10-12+ years of industry-related experience, with a minimum of 8 years in payer account management.
