Rotate between Haematology and Blood Transfusion departments as required, performing routine laboratory scientific duties to the highest professional standards in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.<\/span> Maintain and demonstrate competence across all relevant areas of laboratory services, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and timely reporting of results.<\/span> Work collaboratively with colleagues, supporting team members and contributing positively to a multidisciplinary laboratory environment.<\/span> Participate in service development initiatives in collaboration with the Laboratory Manager and Chief Medical Scientist, contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory practices.<\/span> Assist in stock management, including monitoring and maintaining reagents, consumables, and supplies to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.<\/span> Contribute to the development and optimisation of the Laboratory Information System and participate in out\-of\-hours and weekend services as required.<\/span> Actively support and maintain compliance with international accreditation standards, including ISO 15189 and JCI, ensuring adherence to national and international laboratory guidelines and regulatory directives.<\/span> Engage in all aspects of the Quality Management System, including internal quality control, external quality assessment, audits, equipment evaluation, and management of non\-conformances.<\/span> Participate in education, training, research, and professional development activities, demonstrating accountability and commitment to continuous professional development.<\/span> Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, supporting accident prevention strategies, and fostering a safe working environment.<\/span> Hold an approved qualification in Medical Laboratory Science \/ Biomedical Science, including one of the recognised degrees or diplomas awarded by institutions such as <\/span><\/span>Atlantic Technological University<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> (formerly GMIT), <\/span><\/span>Dublin Institute of Technology<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span>Munster Technological University<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> (formerly CIT), <\/span><\/span>University College Cork<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>, or <\/span><\/span>Trinity College Dublin<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>, or hold an equivalent qualification validated by the <\/span><\/span>Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> (ACSLM).<\/span> Demonstrate evidence of ongoing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) relevant to the role.<\/span> Hold membership or be eligible for Membership\/Fellowship of the <\/span><\/span>Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> (ACSLM).<\/span> Be registered with <\/span><\/span>CORU<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> as a Medical Scientist or be eligible for registration upon completion of studies.<\/span> Possess experience working in an ISO 15189 accredited medical diagnostic laboratory environment.<\/span> Have desirable experience or working knowledge of quality management systems such as Q\-Pulse and Laboratory Information Systems (e.g., iLab).<\/span> Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.<\/span> Exhibit excellent problem\-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to detect errors, follow standard operating procedures, and troubleshoot effectively.<\/span> Show initiative, diligence, patience, honesty, and professional accountability in all aspects of work practice.<\/span>
